"The Ox That Eats Grass"

Psalm 106 is a Psalm of praise. It opens with "Praise the Lord!" and closes with "Praise the Lord!" What led to the Psalmist praise is the recounting of the sinfulness of Israel and the greatness of God. The writer asks for grace to continually be extended to His people.
I just want to make one point to show us how quickly and easily we as mankind will exchange the Almighty for something silly and stupid. Remember what they had witnessed with their own eyes. They all had a "10 lesson correspondence course" when God brought the different plagues on Egypt. They should have learned something. They witnessed their exodus from Egypt, watching God be their army. They witnessed a sea be walled up so they could cross and all the food and water they wanted to survive in the wilderness. None of the clothing or shoes ever wore out because of the mighty hand of the Lord. The Almighty did so much for them, it would amaze us if we knew every detail.
Listen to verse 19-20: "They made a calf at Horeb and worshiped a molten image. Thus they exchanged their glory for the image of an ox that eats grass."In all of God's dealing with their sinful and spiteful attitudes, they exchanged their glorious God for another god. In fact, Exodus 32:5 says when they made this golden calf, Aaron declared, "Tomorrow shall be a feast to the Lord." trying to cover up their sinfulness of this ox as their god. Aaron saw it as a straight swap! Their god in their eyes was an image of an ox that eats grass. I wonder what we have exchanged the Almighty for in our lives?
